Is there a reason why I can't move a surface body in a presentation, Inventor 2016?
I can select it but when I use the 'tweak component' command, it deslects and I can't select it again whilst the command is running.
Has it always behaved this way or is it a new 'feature'?
Hi James,
I can't seem to be able to reproduce this issue.
I have tried in both 2016 RTM and 2016 update 1, but I can move my surfaced components in both presentations.
Can you maybe provide us with a video example of your issue?
I will include a link to the update 1 here in case you don’t have it:
Best,
Eduardo C.
Hi! I don't think this is a new behavior starting from 2016. IPN does not fully support pure surface components. I tried a simple case in 2015, in order to create a tweak, you still need solid body. Is this not what you are seeing in the past? Is this an imported assembly or you just want the components to be surfaces only?
Many thanks!
I didn't have the service pack but installing this did not fix it either.
I've found out how to get it to work.
The surfaces are imported components.
I can select the surface model no problem by clicking on it, but when I click the 'tweak' command it deselects. There is no way to select the surface model by clicking on it.
However, if I click and drag a selection box I can select the surface model.
This doesn't sound like very intuitive behaviour if it is in fact correct.
That makes me think a change in Selection Filters (Feature Priority) might have solved the problem. ( I didn't try to reproduce the issue.)
Thanks, I tried that but there isn't a feature priroity mode in the presentation environment and switching between part and componant priority doesn't make any difference.
Sorry, finally got around to doing this.
Can't select these particular surface models at all from within presenation.
I have a similar problem. When tweaking wires in an .ipn, I cannot select them once the tweak command is active. Has there been a solution yet?
The way to fix this issue is to cheat.
Extrude a small solid body that is hidden within the surface. You can then select the part within the ptresentation assembly.
