Hi Brian,

 

There are a few places I would do differently. Please take a look at attached part. First, sketch3 is not constrained properly. The spline should be at least tangent continuous all around.. Second, this is a symmetric part. You don't need to model the whole thing. Just create one side and then mirror the other half. Lastly, sweeping as a solid may limit your choice in terms of intersection. I used surface sweep to create outer surface. Then use sculpt command to turn it back to a solid.
