Hello! Someone gave me an .ipt file, which was generated from a geometry file from COMSOL. I want to export it as separate STL files, such that each component of the geometry has its own STL file. However when I try to export the file as STL, when I go to the Option tab the Structure tab is locked to "One File". What should I do such that I can change it and have multiple STL files. I attached below a screenshot of the issue. Thank you!
You have two options.
Right click and turn off visibility of all bodies except the one you want to Export
or
Manage>Make Components (or Parts) and then Export each part.
Hi! This can be done at assembly level. Open the part file. Go to Manage -> Make Components -> select all bodies -> push them to individual parts in an assembly. After that, export the assembly to STL or OBJ as individual parts.
Many thanks!
@johnsonshiue Thank you for your reply. I followed the first 3 steps that you suggested. After I select all the bodies I click next and I end up with the window in the screenshot attached. What should I do next? I am not sure how to do this part: "push them to individual parts in an assembly". If I click Apply now and export it as STL it is still just one file.
Hi! You will need to open the assembly file. And, export it to obj/stl (Options -> Structure -> One File per Part Instance).
Many thanks!
Hello
Im using the latest autoCad and im not seeing the make option under Manage? how do i find it in the new version?
Thanks
im attempting to export my stl divided into its individual parts.
This is the Inventor forum, the make option is in Inventor.
If the STLs come in as separate bodies in AutoCAD, you can select each one and use 'move' to separate them.
If they are grouped as a block, you may have 'explode' them first.

@Anonymous
The latest version of what?
Your picture shows AutoCAD, not Autodesk Inventor.
The AutoCAD forum is over here..

ok pretend this is my first time on the software and i have an STL that is composed of many parts. im using the latest version of AUTOCAD and i want to export this machine with its parts seperated. when i try this it unionizes them before the export. if i type a part name it just gives me the part that attached to my mouse and i cant export that one part. instead of speaking about commands that a new user would not understand please try going step by step to tell me how to achieve this goal... again, its an stl... if i type in a part that is when that part duplicates it self to my mouse, i can then resize that part but im given no option to export that part. ive spent a day working on this and i would assume the software was built to work on 3d models and achieve exactly what im trying to do so it shouldnt be this difficult.
please use the language of the simple minded for i am easily confused... thankyou

Attach your *.dwg file and let's take a look at what you have.
thar she blows... the goal here is to bring it into blender as a separated stl.
Thanks for such a fast response. this is such a complex software that without this group of helpers id be in a heepin mess of trouble.

Which software are you referring to as complex?
Autodesk AutoCAD
or
Autodesk Inventor?
You have as a single block.
You will need to Explode the block (and resulting blocks) down to Solids.
How much AutoCAD 3D training/experience do you have?
Why are you posting the problem in the Inventor forum?
Do you have access to Autodesk Inventor, or do you only have Autodesk AutoCAD?
Once I Explode - I get down to Solids...
I could do all of this for you - but I get the feeling that you jumped ship in the middle of the Pacific and then decided that it might be a good idea to learn to swim.
Is this a school assignment?
Are better trained with Blender than you are with AutoCAD?
