I made some changes in a part, such as changing the value of tft_x_dimension. When I went to the part that was based on that dimension, the part had not changd.
I'm not sure how I managed it, but tft_x_dimension was given as a user paramter, and the linked file defined the value tft_x_dimwnsion_1. No other part that was linked had this name, since it is unique to the TFT part.
So I changed the name of the user parameter to txt_x_dimension_0, and, indeed, the value d0, which was based on this, had its formula changed to use tft_x_dimension_0. So, I thought that what I should do would be to rename all the user parameters starting in tft_... to tft_..._0. Then I looked at the included file. Some dimensions, like tft_hole_spacing, were not renamed to _1, so I copied them to User Parameters, renamed them to _0 (instead of _Copy), went back to the linked file, looked at what consumed them, and went back and modified several dn parameters to use the _0 instad of the _1 or unsuffixed name. Cool. My strategy was to remove all dependencies on the linked part file, delete it, and then re-link the file, with the right names, and then rename the _0 values to the values from the linked file and all would be well.
I can't "Delete folder" on the linked file. There are no values imported from it that would prevent this. If I try to link to the part file, nothing happens, because it appears to Inventor that the part file is already loaded.
How do I get rid of the linked part file? This used to work. I am using Inventor 2018.
I have attached case.ipt, which is where I'm having the problem, and Adaruit 3315.ipt, which is the linked part files. There's a bunch of other files that case.ipt links to, but they are not relevant to this problem, and their absence can be ignored.
I have never had success creating a project file. Every attempt has resulted in some catastrophic failure.
thanks
