Can't click and drag sketch geometry

Anonymous
Not applicable

I noticed yesterday that whenever I was attempting to modify a sketch, nothing short of using constraint commands on the toolbar or explicitly dimensioning my lines would allow me to move them. I was previously able to click and drag unconstrained sketch geometry (usually the endpoints of lines), but for some reason (I didn't change any settings that I know of), I now cannot and it is making sketch/feature creation excruciating.

I am using Inventor 2016 and this issue does not seem to be related to any specific group of parts.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tina

Hi! I am having the same issue. I can't move my dimension. I cleanly installed Inventor a few days ago, and all my drivers: graphics card, 3Dconnexion, etc. are up to date. I also tried restarting Inventor and my PC nothing helped. It also shouldn't be constrain-related since I can't move the dimensions in an empty sketch with only a rectangle. I hope you have other ideas or are open to search for a solution with me.

Hi! Please share the file here or record a video showing the behavior. It does not sound right to me.

Many thanks!

Here you can see a video of me creating a new sketch and trying to move the dimension.

Hi! Many thanks for sharing the video! The behavior does not look right to me. Please make sure 2025.0.1 update is installed, along with all critical Windows updates and the latest graphics driver.

Thanks again!

Hi! I just downloaded the update and installed it. It had no effect. The other drivers were already up-to-date. I also updated my spacemouse driver a few days ago.

Thanks for the response!

I also wanted to add. I installed Altiums MCAD CoDesigner, but I also have some problems with it since I can't load it in the AddIn-Manager.

Hi! I don't think it supports Inventor 2025 yet. Please take a look at the matrix on the following page.

Many thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I tried reinstalling Inventor. It somehow started working, when dragging the number.

Best, Leonhard

Hi @johnsonshiue I have exactly the same problem. Inventor 2023.5.3

Unable to drag geometry in a fresh sketch in a fresh part.

edit: sorry for the not-muted audio 😄

Hi Lukas,

I cannot seem to reproduce the behavior on my machine. A few things to check. Go to Tools -> App Options -> General -> Locate Tolerance -> set it to 7. Are you using a regular mouse or a 3D Connexion device? Another place to try is to disable Windows Text Cursor.

Many thanks!

Local tolarance alraedy at 7.

Using a regular Mouse+Keyboard combo.

Restarting Inventor fixes the issue. But WHY?!
