Can not extrude

Hi, I am trying to create a sheet metal part between two c beams in an .iam file, but it will not let me extrude the surface. (the lines are projected from the edges of the C beam, and i used breakline feaure to convert construction line to sketch line.)  I don't know what else I am missing.

Can anyone help.  Thanks.

Hi George,

You will need to include all the ipt files. Or, just post the sheet metal part ipt file here. Did you try creating the Extrusion at assembly level or in a part? If it is at assembly level, it will be like a machining process cutting away material from the parts.

Many thanks!

Thank you Johnson for the fast reply.  Here is my .ipt file.

I used extrusion on assembly level I think.  What I did was place the C beams in assembly and then create a sketch plane between the c beams, then project the lines from the c beams.

Hi,

You created a sketch at assembly level. Like Johnson said those sketches are to cut away material, not to create. If you want to create a sheet metal plate you have to create a new part inside the assembly. Look at the screencast, hope it's clear. Good luck!
