Can extrude a surface but not solid. 2D sketch shows a closed loop.

Hello all.  So I have made a drawing and have been attempting to extrude the part as a solid.  At first I was unable to extrude as a surface but messed around with the constraints to get it to extrude a surface but still not able as a solid.  I have attempted to use the sketch doctor, using the red cross in the extrude tool and have gone in by hand to check all points.  I am still new so I hope it isn't something simple.  I have attached the file.  Thank you!

So i used the fillet tool and that allowed me to do the solid extrusion. However, i am still not clear as to why it was not working before.

I can not open your file for my previous version of Inv . try first to make a surface patch, and then apply thicken / offset, I hope you find it. These are the tools that I show you in the image

You can narrow the bad region by drawing some extra lines in your sketch, and add the resulting zones step by step to your extrusion. This can be done until the issue appears.

I'll come back immediately with the end result.

Now the end. I couldn't find the reason for this failure, but here's a workaround.

Hi! The behavior is indeed wrong. I cannot explain why the totally closed profile is not recognized as such. I suspect there is some sort of corrupted constraints or something in the sketch. I also notice that if I project the lines to another sketch, it will be properly recognized as a closed profile.

On Inventor 2019 and earlier, the profile recognition is based on sketch constraint. Coincident constraints are needed to ensure close boundary. In your case, the coincident constraints are there.

We are working on a geometry-based solution and this particular case works fine using geometry-based profile recognition. Unfortunately, the solution will not be available on 2019 or earlier releases.
