Also make sure you have applied the correct "material" to your part and
aren't used the "Default" material.

Same way. Apply materials to all parts individually, then iProperties in
the assembly.

Hello, is there a way to change units of calculated weight from kilo grams to grams? I have elements with weight smaller than 1 gram and in i properties it shows 0,000 kg

Try changing the uniots in the document settings. If you want mass to always be in grams you'll have to update your template with this change.

No. Thats not an option.. You will have to manually convert it.

Hi

Is it possible to get Raw weight of a part in inventor.

As observed, the inventor reflects with the finished weight alone.

Eg.: I do need a weight of Base plate.

The base plate would be procured for 1000x1000x28 and machined to 25mm thk.

Some holes of 30mm dia would be drilled on the plate.

The inventor provides the mass of the plate as Fiished weight (subtracting all machined and drilled surfaces)

i need the Raw weight of material (for 1000x1000x28).

How do i get both weights in inventor?

Thanks

Check the weight of the part before you modify it, or just do the math. (a 24X24 plate at 25lbsper square foot=100lbs)

...if the math is too complex, there are several other ways...

1. As suggested - roll the EOP up before the cuts are made and check.

2. Do the machined part as a Derived Component - now you have in both states.

3. Do the machined features as multi-body solids, check and then Combine-Subtract.

Hi

Thank you for your replies.

My requirement is after completing an assembly and extracting Bill of Material (Part Lists), the raw weight has to be reflected in individual Part List.

The Mass in Part List shows the Finished weight of component.

Is there any possibilities to see both raw weight and finished  weight in Part List.

Eg.:

ITEM              DESCRIPTION               QTY    RAW WEIGHT    FINISHED WEIGHT

 01       PLATE 100 x 100 x 25 mm       1        1.963 kg               1.577 kg

Any feedbacks is Greatly Appreciated !

Thanks.

With the way we have our templates setup, it would be simple to assign the raw material mass to a parameter. Using your plate as an example, we would start by using our plate template that I have attached. We would start by setting parameter G_T to 28 mm, G_W to 100 mm and G_L to 100 mm. Now you have the raw size information and can setup a user parameter to calculate the raw material mass (RAW_MASS). The RAW_MASS parameter is exported to iProperties so it can be used in the Parts List. We have a template for all steel shapes which we use as our starting point for model creation. All our templates are setup similar to the plate template which would make it easy to come up with the raw material mass. Hope this helps.

Weight or mass? The weight (Force) must be = mass x acceleration

W = mg

There's not a tab that just says weight you need to be more specific

Who needs to be more specific?  This topic goes back quite a few years and versions, and some of the users' accounts are inactive.

How do I get to Document settings so that I can change the Weight to Grams?

Do I do this on the Model or in the Drawing?
