Cable and Harness not displaying in an assembly of assemblies

Anonymous
Not applicable

University Project:

I am working as part of a group to produce an overall CAD model for a vehicle.

We all create an individual assembly of a subsystem, which is then combined with other subsystems into an overall assembly.

In my subsystem assembly I have added a cable harness, however this is not visible in the overall assembly despite appearing in the hierarchy and having the visibility parameter checked.

Hi! The cable and harness are actually surface bodies in the parts. I guess the surface visibility is turn off at the top-level assembly. Go to the top-level assembly and go to View -> Object Visibility -> check "Construction Surface." Then you will see all surfaces showing up in the assembly. You will need to make the rest of surfaces (except C&H) invisible.

Many thanks!

Accepted solution

Thanks, this got me on the right track.

The wires are actually 3D sketches. checking that box in the 'object visibility' menu solved the problem.

If you added other parts such as a loom, they count as "Construction surfaces" which you also need to check
