I only have a basic understanding of the Cable & Harness environment, so please excuse my ignorance.
I've uploaded a screenshot for viewing purposes.
So, say I'm making a simple Y-splitter like in the attached picture. I have 2 splices setup. One for the red wires, and one for the black wires. I also have my 3 segments setup ahead of time.
Normally, I route the wires, then redefine the splice onto the meeting point of the 3 segments. This works fine if you only have 1 splice. When I try to redefine the 2nd splice onto the same segment intersection it tells me I cannot put two splices on top of each other.
What is the correct way to route something like this?
Win 7 64 bit
Inventor 2017.4.2 build 256
From what I can see in the picture the first 2 splices aren't necessary, you just need the 3 segments with 1 splice in the middle.
I was assuming that all wires connected to a splice would be connected to each other. Is this not the case? I'm trying to keep the red & black wires separate from each other.
Okay, I get what you're trying to do, I think the solution is to make a separate .ipt to use as a splice for the wires with a wire pin in the center of the .ipt, that way you can layer them on top of each other, then make 3 wires going from the created splice to each of your points for black and red.
EDIT: I'll try to make a quick sample before the end of the day.
EDIT 2: Nevermind, that solution won't work, is there a way for you to post a wire diagram, even a jpeg will do.
I'm not an electrical guy so please excuse my poor drawing. Had to do a quickie on the pad.
