Bulk convert step files to ipt in Vault library?

We have imported a ton of commercially available files of reusable parts (nuts, bolts, etc) to our Vault basic server. All the files were downloaded from the vendors websites in a .step format. Yes, Inventor is able to use those files, however every file has to be converted to a .ipt when it is first placed in an Inventor assembly. Inventor does that automatically, but it is an extra window to click ok on, and a few more seconds wait, for each and every part.

Is it possible to convert all those files sitting in our Vault library from .step to .ipt?

Also delete the .step after the conversion process is done?

Thanks for your help!

This is more of a question for the Inventor forum. I would image that you can use the Inventor Task Scheduler to do this in bulk.

I looked at the task scheduler in Inventor, but seems to me there are only "canned" tasks there. When I try to create a new custom task, I did not see any option to do what I want to do.

Maybe I am missing something. I did take a look at the documentation also.

Without any testing, a possible Task Scheduler workflow could be:

  1. Create a Sequential Task

    1. Get latest version of the .stp files from Vault
      https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2021/ENU/Inve...
    2. Import the stp files into Inventor
      https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2021/ENU/Inve...
    3. Check in the new Inventor files
      https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2021/ENU/Inve...
  2. Delete the existing .stp files from Vault manually.
  3. Review and correct any iProperty or conversion issues on a per file basis

It also looks like it is possible to create custom tasks, but some programing knowledge is needed.
