Break Line Visibility and layers

Hi

I would like to place the break lines of any isometric views on another layer, eg visible?

When Creating drawings I place my break lines on a non-printable layer, as I create my own tube end symbols.

This works just fine, the problem comes with the isometric views. The break lines carry through to to the isometric view. (As a matter of interest, this never happened a few releases back, maybe that was a bug and was rectified, or now its a bug?)

When the drawing is printed or exported, the break lines for the isometric views are missing (because I hid them), and the views do not look pleasing and are sometimes confusing. I am unable to select the break lines and move the lines to a new layer.

Below are a few screen captures of some Engineering drawings for a current job, the problem is particularly visible in the AutoCAD captures. My layers are also there for review.

Thanks

Hello @rhasell.,

Sorry, not pretty sure about the problem.

Is that possible to share a set of data and more details?

Hi @Xun.Zhang

Due to the fact that I hide the break lines on my drawings, the 3D shaded iso views look incomplete due to the missing lines.

I can't really share a data set, because it's not a problem with the files, I want to know if there is a way to place the 3D shaded iso view break lines on a different layer in order to control them better. (In my example, it will be all the blue lines)

For example where the object defaults are, maybe there can be another entry to control the iso view break lines.

Then I could place them on the visible layer, allowing the views to be complete.

Basically, I am unable to control the lines, it's either all visible or all hidden. I use custom tube end symbols (Because Inventor does not have them) I am forced to hide the cut lines.

I am guessing that this is possibly hard coded, because one is unable to select the lines, so maybe there is some iLogic or something I could do?

Thanks

Regards

Hello @rhasell,

How about create a 2D sketch in that view and make sketch projection for the break lines in a different layer instead?

Thanks!

Hi Reg,

I cannot think of a workflow to make it work like you wanted except having an Iso View Breakline layer. The issue here is that the Break Lines are all on one layer regardless of view types.

Many thanks!

Hi Johnson

Thanks, that is what I suspected. I have become very creative in view creation in order to get around the issue, but I am not always successful.
