Bearing error

Hi, I somehow can't place the bearing in the fitting hole using the joint feature, an error keeps popping up and I can't fix it. I also can't get the shaft with the big gear on in line with the holes with the bearings.

Can someone please fix it?

Yes this is a school project, it's quite important I've been trying to put this together for hours now but I'm just not capable of doing it Smiley Frustrated

Hi Joey,

 

I think I know where the problem is. There is an issue with the modeling order and also components' location relative to the global coordinate system. Here is what you need to do.

 

1) Open Assembly2.iam.

2) Right-click on the Bevel Gear -> uncheck Flexible.

3) Right-click on behuising 4:1 -> uncheck Grounded.

4) Go to Productivity tool -> Ground and Root -> select behuising 4:1. Or, simply create 3 Flush constraints between the assembly XY, YZ, and XZ planes and the same planes of behuising 4:1.

5) Find Part601:1 and delete Rotational:14 joint.

6) Delete all the sick constraints and joints.

7) Open behuising 4.ipt in its own window -> move EOP right above Direct Edit1.

8) Edit Mate:39 and re-establish mate relationship between the shaft and the hole.

 

At this point, you are pretty much all set. You can right-click on Bevel Gear and make it flexible.

The issue here is that you are not aware that Rotation Joint is a bit like Insert Constraint. It locks up the axial degree of freedom of the two components. The main problem was that the components were not constrained properly in the space. You use Direct Edit to move geometry which makes the whole system out of control. Please keep in mind when you build an assembly, you want to make sure each constraint makes sense and also you don't want to accumulate errors. Each error adds to confusion and in the end, you don't know what to do except starting from scratch.
