Axis Selector on Pattern Features may be glitched?

When I create a new Pattern feature either on a part or assembly the Axis Selector menu is greyed out and doesn't allow me to immediately select an origin axis.  This occurs no matter if I've already chosen my features/components that I want to pattern.

You have to select the copper mouse button next to the menu to enable the menu first.  I feel this is unnecessary and the menu should be available immediately unless there's a specific reason for this.

You neglected to mention what version of Inventor you're using, and what updates have been applied to it.

I see the same behavior, and I suspect that it was an oversight-- not a bug exactly, but certainly not as good as it could be.  Like you I don't see why it would need to be that way, but I'm not writing this code.  I could even be wrong!

Hi! Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and the graphics driver is updated. Also, right-click on Inventor desktop icon -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Change High DPI setting -> check both boxes.

Restart Inventor. Does it work better now?

Many thanks!

@johnsonshiue , this is very consistent behavior and seems to be designed that way.  The drop-down menu is not enabled until the arrow button is selected.  OP is asking why and proposing that the drop-down axis selector be enabled by default-- not dependent on the button but at the same level of priority.  Seems reasonable to me...

Hi @johnsonshiue I checked through all of that and am still experiencing the same thing. Granted I am running this remotely from a virtual machine on our network to set up and test everything before deploying on all of the workstations. However, I highly doubt that the virtual machine environment is going to cause a small detail like this to glitch out.

If it's not a glitch and everyone else is experiencing the same thing then that's fine. I just wanted to check if this is working as intended before making a post in the ideas forum requesting this change.

Thanks to both of you for checking this out.

Hi! Sorry! I misunderstood the issue. I saw the behavior. This is about why the three origin axes options are not enabled initially. I guess the options were added to the dialog later as a supplementary option. I agree, it should be enabled. I am on our latest internal build targeting the future release. The behavior seems to have been fixed there. Please sign in Inventor Feedback Community to try the latest build.

Many thanks!
