Automatic slot center lines and annotation on drawing

How to get mid point based center lines and annotation for the slots on these views? See screenshot.

I had already read both.

I mean specifically the centerlines from the slots, not the circle centerlines.

The second article could be a work around, but hé AUTODESK, it's 2021 and we are talking about centerline slots on a drawing? Come on.

Are the slots created by feature pattern?  If so, another workaround would be to pattern a workpoint along with the slot, and make the workpoints visible in the drawing (they appear as center marks in a drawing view).

Have you looked for and/or created an idea in the Inventor Ideas forum?  If you find one or create one, post a link back here and start soliciting votes for it.  I, for one, would very gladly vote for it.

Also, post your part file here and tell us what version of Inventor you're using.  You're more likely to get useful responses if we don't have to spend time creating test geometry to try things.

Best option so far, center marks appear correct on the top view. But, on the front view also center marks appear while in my opinion it should be center lines. Anyway, that can be dealt with. Thanks for the tip.

Any idea how the get an decent automated length/width annotation for these slots on the drawing?

Would be nice.

Do you really think we should make Autodesk aware of this? I would say they already working on it, after all, it's so common, especially with sheet metal, to use slotted holes, I cannot imagine otherwise.

Hi! This is a limitation for a while. To Inventor, a slot is no different than an arbitrary oval shape. It is not aware of the significance of the center lines bisecting the slot. Here is an interesting article. Please take a look. I am not sure if it will help.

I think Inventor should have a slot option in the hole wizard now these days. Please check message 5 in the discussion and advise me, is it necessary to create an idea or is this already been addressed?

Last week we switched to IV2022.

Still looking for an option to have slotted hole annotations on a drawing view other that a flat pattern view.

We create the slotted holes with the Punch Tool feature.

Now these days we communicate STEP files with our manufacturers instead of flat pattern views so it would be nice to use them on other views.

Only work around i've got so far is a leader text who is looking to the parameters Width and Length, which is a nice exercise for my click skills.

Any other suggestions would be welcome.
