hello
i want to know if i can display the plans (xy, yz and xz) of a part or sub assembly when the part is placed into the assembly so it would be easier to make constraints using the main plans of the part or subbassemly without going to the browser and turn the display from there so it time saving
or creating a rule to make the display automatic on, once brought into the assembly
thanks in advance
So when you place the part you want the origin planes to turn on and when you've finishing constraining it, turn them off?
You can't do that. Not sure if you could even do it in iLogic because it wouldn't know when you were finished constraining so you'd end up with a display full of planes.
Do you know that you don't need to turn the visibility on to actually select them? You can just pick them in the browser like normal with the constraint command. This is how I do it.
You can do a few things but not exactly as you describe. Relating to the placing of the part and workplanes switch on, iLogic does not have an on event (place in assembly) events trigger but you could possibly create an addin but this is not for the beginner. There is possibility with iLogic to run a rule manually to switch on the workplanes. Or there could even be a possibility to select both parts/assembly and have the constraints populate automatically removing the need to see the workplanes and to manually constrain one by one. This will depend if the constraints options are complex an example is needed to further discuss that.
thanks Acheson
surely it doesn't help a lot; But let explore the add-in, it could be added, so it give the option in the right click menu to select from there the reference planes or simply when we hover with the mouse it gives you the possibility to turn on the plane you want , because when you want to constraint a newly part in the assemly with a part already placed spaecially when there is a long list of part in the assembly, you have to go to the browser select the part there, and scroll down to find the reference plane of the part you want to constraint to, it take time for long assembly
thanks
In your iLogic post on the forum I have placed a rule to select the part in either the browser or the model window and add as many parts as you need, press esc and the workplane will be switched on, repeat the workflow for off. This isn't an automatic rule but it is semi automatic. Much faster than manual method. Use the rule as an external rule

Hi! It will be a lot quicker if you can share the files and the iLogic rule here. We have quite a few iLogic experts here to help.
Many thanks!
