New to BOMs in inventor, bear with me...

I am often making drawings of railing assemblies, sometimes with coped pipes, as pictured above. Currently, I have to create the part views, draw a sketch, and dimension all of my pipes that are coped and angle cut. I would like to get to the point where I don't even need to create drawings for these pipes, and instead I can have the necessary dimensions (shown above) in the BOM.

Is there a way to create these dimensions as custom parameters?

Or could I use iLogic to automatically create a drawing for each one of my frame members?

I'm considering not using any notches in my model... this would likely solve my problem, but I would then have to manually specify which pipe ends need to be coped.

Also... the CUTDETAIL parameter is giving me the complementary of the cut angle. I could make a custom parameter of "CUT = 90-CUTDETAIL#" to get my actual cut angle, but the CUTDETAIL number is not consistent to the type of detail. Is there a workaround for this problem?

Can you post one of your pipe files?

Are you using frame generator for these pipes?

and do you really go out to 4 digits? Thats some uber precise pipe..

Hi! Indeed, there are quite a few questions asked in this posting. It is like how to automate creating drawing views and annotations for custom frames. There isn't an out-of-box solution. Regardless, it is doable with iLogic. I have seen quite a few examples, but I cannot share proprietary data.

Please share an example you are working on. We have quite a few iLogic experts on the forum to provide guidance.

Many thanks!

Here's the pipe file. It's a custom part that I made for use with the frame generator.

Haha, no our sizes are not that precise. I draw to 4 decimals because it tells me if the dimension is true, or rounded off (which is sometimes a red flag).
