Autodesk Inventor Performance Issue – Guidance Required for Dedicated Vault Server Infrastructure (15–20 Users)

We are facing significant performance issues while working with Autodesk Inventor in a multi-user environment. Our current infrastructure includes:
15–20 concurrent Inventor users
High-end HP workstations (Intel i9, 64 GB RAM, NVIDIA Quadro GPUs)
Full 10G network infrastructure (10G switch, 10G LAN ports, CAT6A cabling)
QNAP NAS with SSD storage
Large and complex Inventor assemblies (10k+ components/parts in a assembly)
Currently, Inventor project data is stored on the NAS and accessed over the network.
While opening or saving large assemblies, we experience:
Slow assembly loading
Lag during reference resolution
Delays during save/check-in operations
However, the same assemblies perform extremely fast when opened from local NVMe SSD storage, which indicates the bottleneck may be related to storage architecture, Vault infrastructure, SQL performance, or network-based file handling rather than workstation hardware.
We are now planning to purchase a dedicated Autodesk Vault Server infrastructure for long-term use in our office environment.
Our requirements:
Autodesk Vault Professional environment
15–20 active designers
Office ambient temperature around 30°C
Existing 10G infrastructure already available
Existing NAS available for backup/archive
Required usable storage: approximately 24 TB
Preference for enterprise tower server instead of rack server due to office cooling/noise considerations
We are recently using Vault Basic 2026 (approx. less than 1 month)
We would appreciate guidance from Autodesk experts and the community regarding:
Recommended CPU configuration
Recommended RAM capacity
NVMe/SSD RAID recommendation
SQL Server Standard vs Express
Best practice for Vault filestore location
Recommended workflow for large Inventor assemblies
Whether a dedicated Vault Server with local NVMe storage is the best approach for our environment
