Autocad files into inventor

Hi, I'm semi fresh out of drafting school where I took short course on inventor.

I'm my current job, I'm the only drafter and still learning as I go which is why I'm here asking this. 

Is it possible to run soley on inventor?

I currently run Acad 2D/3D for meter runs and to help draw parts needed for a job. We are looking into purchasing a new tool which will use inventor (faro arm). I'm just trying to see if we can do basic drawings on inventor like the parts or meter runs or will need to have both programs since it's in a way two different things.

I believe Inventor comes with AutoCAD free-of-charge.

Can you post an image of one of  your AutoCAD drawings.

Unless the AutoCAD drawing is a schematic type drawing - you can probably use only Inventor just fine.

I migrated fro Autocad to Inventor years ago & Love Inventor. I hardly ever touch Autocad anymore. And I use a Faro Edge Arm couplded with the Faro Blue Laser right inside of Inventor using Dezignworks for Inventor. DezignWorks is simply amazing sofware for reverse engineering parts & assemblies without leaving the familiar Inventor workspace.

To clarify, Inventor does not come with AutoCAD.  They are separate tools, each with its own subscription.  What this article is explaining is that Inventor can work with the .dwg format which is also used by AutoCAD, and AutoCAD geometry can be imported into Inventor models to assist in geometry creation.   Both are available together as part of the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection.
