Assembly

Hi,

Would you please tell me how to begin a project directly at assembly and from scratch. This is needed to know how to design components and put appropriate dimensions and angles on the component so that the project is successful. You will pleased me if there is an example for that.

thank you

Are you saying you've never used Inventor before? Not entirely sure what you're asking?

If you are wanting to draw components, assemble them together and then make drawings of them, this is exactly what Inventor does and you will find plenty of tutorials to get you started  in the Inventor files and on youtube.

If you are trying to design all the parts in one file, this is called a multibody part.

You open a single part and draw everything in there.

Each time you want a new body, when you draw extrude it, you need to choose the option 'new solid'

If neither of these are what you're asking, please give more detail.

Welcome to the forum. To understand which  type of assembly you looking to learn from here are a few questions.

Questions(?)

  1. What industry and or object are you looking to create? If possible please attach a sample picture or an attempt at an assembly with parts . To attach, Right click on an assembly and use pack and go and put the folder in a zipped folder. No need to attach templates just parts and assemblies.
  2. Will your assembly contain standard parts such as pipe, structural metal (Box, Angle, Round)?
  3. Does your assembly contain sheet metal parts?
  4. Are you concerned with a BOM(Bill of materials) materials, size, part number for purchasing? This can have a big impact on how you use parts in an assembly!

Thank you for reply.

The attachment is an example structural drawing contains parts  that I want to create the parts at assembly work or during the progress of assembly. In another wards, I'll create parts at assembly work and according to the need of the project , where each part if it is put in a separate file, it will be better. But , there will be no objection if it is needed to design a part out of the assembly and then bring it back to assembly , especially the moving parts.

Thank you

Look into skeletal modelling and frame generator for something like this.

Thank you for reply.

#1- I'm in the teaching industry and the attachment describes my attempt to create such assembly.

#2- Yes, it contains standard parts such as pipes and angles.

#3- No, but if so, what will be the problem?

#4- No.

Thank you

Like @BDCollett  suggested skeletal modelling to drive the frame size and shape and frame generator to handle the different metal extrusions.

If your manufacturing sheetmetal it would be done in the sheetmetal part so folding and sizes can be accurately portrayed using sheetmetal styles.
