Assembly too large to create simplified part

Hello, I am having an issue with creating a simplified model for a customer to use. I have a very large assembly with thousands of parts including tube & pipe runs. I need to send this to a customer to view in a single stp part file. Normally, I would go to simplification, then create simplified part and generate the stp file. When I try this with this assembly it takes hours to generate and when it has finally generated it will not re-open after I close it. It ends up being about a 1.5 GB file. I have another one that will not generate at all and just has a blank screen after running overnight. Is there a better way to generate an stp file for an assembly this large.

Hi, what settings are you using for simplification? Are you removing features and components or just hiding internal voids, or just blending it into a single blob?

All I do is make the following selections in an assembly, without any additional setting changes.

Ahh, this is probably your issue. Inventor is trying to merge all the files into a single body, which is fine, but you are not removing any detail at all which means it will take a long time, contain features you don't need and result in a massive file. 

You would be better off running it through the full Simplify tool and use feature removal to get rid of fillets or holes of a certain size. You could also remove all internal voids and parts that can't be seen.
