Assembly Constraints

My frustration with this software is now at my limits!!!

Can someone please explain to me how you can constrain a part to a point in a sketch?

I have some bollard positions which have been marked out in a sketch (in the assembly) which has points in the sketch where I need my Bollards. However in my assembly I can't use the sketch to either assemble parts to said points or even create assembly points to the sketch. Can someone please help as this is driving me mad.

Hi,

You have using the Work Points.

Create a base part with nesessary sketch points, finish sketch and place Work Points on Sketch Points, then finish part and insert it in assembly as first base part.

Then in assembly you can place other parts with constraints btw vertex/base point or other elevents your parts with these workpoints.

If you still can’t figure it out after @Alexander_Chernikov tip on placing Workpoints on your Sketch Points, then Attach your assembly here.

Hi! I believe you are trying to create an assembly constraint between a workpoint and an assembly sketch point. Inventor assembly sketch is mainly for creating machining features. The assembly sketch geometry cannot participate in  assembly constraints. This behavior is different than SWX.

If you find Inventor frustrating, I suggest you look into Fusion and it may offer some SWX-like behaviors that you are used to.

Many thanks!

Inventor is extremely frustrating with the things you are unable to do......however in other packages you can
