Use the Shaded or Shaded with Edges view style. Turn off the ground shadow and the sketch grid.
Hide all workfeatures unless you need them for the work you are doing right now.
Try not to have any transparent models.
Don't model threads or welds.
Avoid assembly-level features.
Fully constraint all sketches and assemblies.
Fix all "Red Cross" issues in your models.
Avoid associative part features.
Minimize cross file dependencies.
Leverage feature patterns instead of repeating geometry in sketches.
Minimize the surface facets in your models: If you can't see that 0.010" fillet radius on the 60' long beam, don't model it.
Use design view reps or model states to create focus areas in large designs. Think about the geometry you need to see on screen to accomplish the design task. Create a view rep to hide the geometry you don't need.
