An adaptive library component

Dear community,

I am trying to create a library component that is adaptive in length. What is the best way to achieve this?

Should I use iLogic that creates a new part each time?, e.g. H185_500mm

Thank you.

What do you mean by a library component?

A Content Center part

A part you just copy around

A part in a library folder that never changes

A part in a library component that is derived and reusable.

I added a dimesion to the length of that extrusion, and you can change it in the parameter Fx Dialogbox, or you could make a form to control the dimensions.

Hello,

Thank you for the reply. And I apologize for not explaining the situation earlier.

What I am trying to achieve is that to create H185 to adapt the length when I mate it. So if the distance between the wall is 500mm, H185 will change the length to H185 automatically.

I think that can be achieved with some iLogic prohramming, but not out of the box.

Hi! Johan is right. This needs to be done via iLogic. Inventor "Adaptive" is context sensitive, which means any adaptive relationship is between PartA and PartB within AssemblyC. Such relationship is unique in that context, not applicable to other assemblies. There is no "general" adaptivity.

Many thanks!
