Alt Drag Constraints - context menu bug?

Greetings!

Inventor version is 2020.4.2.

I am using "Alt Drag Constraints" and I came across 3 inconveniences.

  1. You cannot rotate the model after you start the "Alt Drag Constraints" function (it locks other functions). --> This is already answered in other threads that this is currently not possible and it was posted to idea station.
  2. Because first point is not implemented, I am using context menu to "Mate" 2 parts together and the problem is when context menu pops-up, I select the option I want, but after selection the option, you have to click mouse button again to confirm. Bug or intentional?
    1. If the mouse cursor standstill for a second, it will display context menu again and possibly ruin your selected choice.
  3. When I use "Flush" (also other options), why does it bring models together like that? Is it possible to disable preview or at least preview it when both edges/planes are clicked?
    1. Then you have to pull them apart to see planes properly again and to use other constraints.

Context menu:

After context menu selection, but without extra mouse click after (on image mouse cursor is not displayed, but it had "Mate" icon still):

Before "Flush":

After "Flush":

Hi Rene,

This may be related to Qt UI framework. Please take a look at the following thread (post #14).

Many thanks!

I think we do not think about the same thing.

If you check the first and the second image. On first it shows the menu, I click the second option, but it does not confirm it until I click again somewhere. What I would like it to do is that it should confirm selection on first click (when I choose the option).

And if you check the third and the fourth image, menu also poped out, but as you can see it previews the change too fast on my opinion. It should move the part after I click the second plane or edge to constraint, not before. It should work like "constraint function", it should preview at second plane/edge click and then you should confirm that you like it this way to be constrainted.

Hi Rene,

I am sorry I misunderstood your request. I see what you are talking about. This is about the in-command transaction within Assembly Constraint dialog. Indeed, there isn't much you can do beyond selecting the geometry. Please feel free to submit those ideas to Inventor Ideas forum.

In the meantime, you may want to look into Assemble command. It is a quicker way to add constraints based on the selected components.

Many thanks!

No problem.

I understand. So clicking in empty space just means like "Apply" in dialog and it is made on purpose?

I think I will. If only preview option would be available, it would be a lot easier to manipulate with this command, because when part jump it is annyoing a bit.

I look into it, but the same thing as in "Alt drag method", preview is missing in my opinion. The easiest function to use is still "Constraint dialog".

Thanks for the help.
