alignment dimension question

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am having trouble with adding aligned dimensions like I have sketched on my attachment.

I tried starting a sketch on my idw to add some lines perpendicular to the mitered end, cannot constrain to any lines on my idw.

My project geometry button is greyed out.

How would I add sketch lines from the center of the holes to perpendicular to the line?

Thank you for your help.

You are creating a sketch at the sheet level, not at the view level.

Exit sketch.

Click on the view and don't move your mouse.

Hit S on the keyboard to start a sketch in the view you just selected.

I just published a blog post about this exact topic. Read it here for 5 methods to get an aligned dimension.
