I would like to know with exactness, to finish understanding this message: Adding this dimension will over-constrain the sketch. Choose Accept to create a Driven Dimension.

I'm doing a geometry with measures already tested because I get this message, as I do to solve this.

The sketch you are adding the dimension to already has that portion defined by either constraints or other dimensions, although sometimes it is nice to have a dimension that references the sketch but is not drive able.

If you would like to know with exactness - then Attach your *.ipt file here and end all doubt.

My guess, from only the image, is that you have a Coincident or Colinear constraint on the vertical line to other geometry in the sketch. (Perhaps an equal (=) on the horizontal, but I think you would know that one as it would have to be added manually.)

Hi! Indeed, the behavior is geometry specific. We need to take a look at the sketch in order to understand the behavior better. It could be working correctly based on the existing dimensions and constraints. Or, it could be a bug in the sketch.

Many thanks!

Hi Johnsonshiue, How to resolve a bug in the sketch, My sketch cant constraint even though it displays degree of freedom, when it constraints it says over constrained, Some of them I dimensioned it to zero instead of constraints

Hi! Please share the file here or send it to me (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com). I would like to understand the over-constrained behavior better.

Many thanks!
