Adding Datum References to General Surface Profile Tolerance

Hi!

I added a general note which displays a general surface profile tolerance to my 3D model. However, I can't see to manage to add datum references (like A|B|C) to the profile tolerance. Is there a way to do that?

did you add a tolerance feature from the symbols,  if so you should be able to double click and edit to add ABC.

if you are using the text note repeatedly can you make a sketch symbol with text and the tolerance.

Hi! Unfortunately, it is not available yet. We do have some missing workflows in MBD and 3DA. We are aware of them. Please feel free to submit it to Inventor Ideas forum.

Hi!

I guess this is in the drawing environment? I don't have those buttons in the 3D MBD annotate tab.

I wanted to add the note with datum references to the 3D model. However, since that is currently not implemented I guess yours is a good secondary solution other than writing it as text in the note.

Is there a list of the known missing workflows in MBA/3DA that can be shared? We were thinking about rolling it out later this year department wide, and it would be useful to have a reference to figure out work-arounds beforehand. It would also be useful for us to give feedback on annotations as a whole. without repeating things Autodesk already knows.

Hi! Unfortunately, I don't have such list. If you try to create some annotation but you could not find a way, I can tell if it is the way it is supposed to work or it is missing workflow.

I do not think adding the datum reference frame to the General profile note is a candidate for the ideas submission.  It is not a nice to have.  It is a must have if you plan to correctly submit PMI info to downstream consumers.  One of my files errored out on the CMM because of this missing DRF on the general profile note.  Indeed the AMSE Y14.5 standard does allow calling out profile without a DRF.  It is not encouraged as inspection would be difficult to accomplish.  Without it, semantic propagation to downstream services will not be possible.  If it is too hard to accomplish in a note, taking it out of the note and let the placement of the GDT anywhere in the model serve as tolerance.  We can add text in and around it to make it look like the general profile note.  It does not have to be imbedded in the note to communicate the intent.  We need it.

This is the error thrown by Hexagon's software that generates inspection
plans.

I have had issues with this as well, and have made a quick concept of what this might look like, should this be expanded to idea submissions. I agree that we really need this to be implemented in some way.
