Add a broken leader to the origin text of an ordinate set - Inventor Professional 2025

Hi,

I want to add a broken leader to the "0" of an ordinate set bot I can't find how to do it.
I need to move it to make some space for the other members of the set (see the attached screenshot).

Does anyone know how to do it?

If this is not a feature of Inventor, I strongly suggest it to be added. Especially since both Solidworks and Solid Edges have that feature.

It's a workaround, but here is the technique:

  1. Establish the dimension origin for the view by using the Ordinate Dimension tool (not Ordinate Dimension Set), but after placing the origin indicator exit the tool
  2. Create your ordinate dimension set, starting with a location where the leader can be or must be straight (the origin of the set cannot be jogged/offset/broken)
  3. While in the Ordinate Dimension Set tool, right click and select Options > Use Origin Indicator (this can also be done after exiting the tool); this sets 0 to the location of the view origin you established in step 1
  4. Move jogged/offset/broken leaders as you wish, with the exception of the first one you placed which cannot be broken
  5. If you want to change which member is the "straight one", right click on it and choose Make Origin; this will not make it the view origin (0), but will make it, in effect, the first member placed
