Adaptive extrusion

Hi everyone,

Im having trouble whit my assembly. Trouble is that i dont know how i can make extrusion to avoid another part in the assembly. For example im trying to model a basic foundation for a house, but the dirt fills piping in the ground. Im sorry for my English skills, but here is picture of the problem. Is there any trick to make dirt extrusion to avoid pipe?

Hi Aapo

I would recomend you look into using derived parts to solve your issues.

I have attached a very simple example of this for you.

Firstly model the parts.

Create an assembly of the parts.

Start a new part and derive the assembly into it. using the options to subtract the parts from each other as required.

Use the derived part in your master assembly.

Hi! The issue here is that when you create the dirt extrusion, it is within the dirt part, which is not aware of the tube or pipe in another part. You may also consider using Copy Object command. Edit the dirt part. Go to Modify tab -> expand the panel -> Copy Object -> Body -> pick the pipe from the assembly and link the geometry. Then you can use Sculpt or Split command to cut the pipe from the dirt.

If you cannot figure it out, please share an example here. Forum experts can help take a look.

Many thanks!
