Just to let you know that the Student Version of Inventor is identical to the commercial except that you get rights for commercial usage, so if you don't need commercial use, it's probably not worth switching.
If you do decide to get a commercial license, make sure to separate out your educational files since they will be tagged as such in the metadata.
