I couldn't explain the issue in writing. Because it is complicated. I show the problem on video attached.

After I import a file from step, I add a feature on part. But this feature and current model explode.

I have had this problem for 4 years. Different computer, different inventor versions, different step files.

Now I am using Inventor 2025. Firstly I met this problem Inventor 2022. Then now It is continue.

It's a workflow problem.
Do not enter a value of 0 in the Direct Edit command.
Disable this operation in the browser for the selected model state.

Everything works for me.

Hi @ercan_sarlakVWBPK,

The behavior captured by your video is wrong. I suspect it has something to do with the Save options. Go to Tools -> App Options -> Save -> set "Prompt to Save" to "Yes" for all -> set "Default Condition" to "Don't save" for all. After that, are you still able to reproduce the behavior?

Many thanks!

I did both of your advices. Save options, and no zero value. But fail still continue.

I don't know how to explain the difference between our systems.  When I open one of the .stp files you attached (Inventor 2025), I get (by default) an assembly consisting of two components: the actuator body, and the moving parts.  I simply constrain these axially and create model states for extended, retracted, and free (with limits).

But in your video, you show that it opens to an assembly with one component, and that component has three solid bodies.  To create different positions, you need to use Direct Edit to create different positions of the actuator.  I don't have an answer for why yours doesn't behave the same as mine.

Hi Sam,

In the Import dialog, there is a Structure dropdown menu. You may select Multi-Solid Body part.

Many thanks!

My template has "designer, controller, engineer, approved" sections defined.
