404 error in Inventor Help

It often happens that surfing the Inventor Help I get 404 error, on some pages the issue is systematically.

It doesn't seem browser dependent, how get 404:
Go to Inventor Help Home: http://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2020/ENU/
Click on Programming Interface --> Inventor API Reference Manual --> Objects
Now if you click on AddInAutomation or any objects it works (sometimes a refresh is necessary): http://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2020/ENU/?guid=GUID-75023241-53FC-48DB-869F-07E44091DE96, opening the same link in another window/tab returns 404 error instead: http://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2020/ENU/?guid=AddInAutomation
It's quite annoying.

Hi @CattabianiI

We will look into it. It seems to be working for other topics, so I don't know why its broken for the programming topics.

Thanks

Hi! The online Help may be unavailable due to server update or outage. It can be unpredictable sometimes. If you want to have local help, you can go to Tools -> App Options -> General -> click the link to download the local Help files. Install it on your machine. It will direct you to the local Help content instead.

Many thanks!

Hi @johnsonshiue , the local Help does not contain the API manual, I know I can find the API chm in %public%\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2020\Local Help but using the Inventor Help as shown by e @AlexFielder here is way more powerful.
I think the problem is that ?guid=Object_Name page does not exist at all, it does not seem a temporary server issue.

Hi @sundars, thanks to look into this.

Hi @johnsonshiue@sundars  something is broken again, just with new api I think.
If you do this search: https://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2022/ENU/?query=MemberEditScope&cg=Developer%27s%20Documentat...
clicking on iPartFactory.MemberEditScope works, clicking on ModelStates.MemberEditScope show the right resource but redirect to this url: https://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2022/ENU/?guid=GUID-

Just dropping a link in here to the other (almost duplicate) post that I created shortly after this one.

Hi folks.  I just found another link trail like the one @CattabianiI mentioned above, where it seems like this 2022 addition to Inventor's online help is lacking proper web addresses.  The top working link to get to this 'trail' is here:

It is for the SectionDrawingView object's HatchRegions property.

https://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2022/ENU/?guid=GUID-B3AEBE2F-F2CD-47BA-8BFC-0D8CD5443814

from the link for the HatchRegions on down, it seems like all their final addresses are the default:

https://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2022/ENU/?guid=GUID-

So, when you hover the link, you see the 'search term' at the end of the web address, but then after you left click the link, the address of the destination web page is that last empty version.  It shows the right content, but the web address is messed up, therefore I can't supply anyone with proper direct link to one of those lower level links.  Case in point, this post from just this morning, where it would have been nice.

Hi Folks,

The web team is actively looking at the issues reported. They gave me an update the very first issue on this thread reported by @CattabianiI has been fixed.

This is the Error 404 when opening an API object in a different window/tab. Please try it out. If the problem still persists, first try clearing all browser local cache and retry. If its still a problem, please try it on other browser like chrome or firefox or edge. I tried on both chrome and edge and they both worked.

They are still looking at the other issues actively and monitoring this thread as well.

Thanks

Yes.  The link mentioned in the first post here seems to be working OK in my tests.  Generally speaking, when using the links from that left hand side scrolling list, those links seem to all show the GUID string at the ends of their link/web address, so I generally don't have much trouble with them.  Yes, there are still a few in there that just don't include anything at the end of their link/web address, but they still somehow work, even when opening them in another tab.  A few examples like this I found just this morning are under the Application object.

Programming Interface > Inventor API Reference Manual > Objects > Application

They are:  'AvailableComparisonVersions', 'ComparisonVersion', 'ModelStateEvents', 'ThemeManager', 'ViewFrames'

The link/web address for each of those is just:  https://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2022/ENU/?guid=GUID-

You might notice a trend there...they all seem to be newer additions to the online help documentation.

It's usually the links within the web pages themselves that gives me the most trouble, rather than the ones out on the main left list.

Browse through manual is still very buggy:
Go: https://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2023/ENU/?guid=GUID-FE230CC1-D9A7-4050-9018-2BBE35941067
then clicking on FactoryDocument, or PreciseRangeBox you get bad url.

Or if you go to this post and click on the second link you get a 404 error:

Great thread here.  Very much needed.  Tried posting stuff about these problems on the 'Community Feedback Hub' before, but rarely get any response, other than some likes.  These online help page links/URL's issues have been a major thorn in my side for years now, because I am always trying to include links to them in my forum responses, but I often either can not, or have to post two versions of the url (the one with the search term at the end, or the one with a long GUID string at the end), in hopes that at least one of them will work for those who encounter them after I post them.  Another irritating/abnormal behavior that I encounter when working with any new links within the online help area which don't show propper URL's, is that the Back/Forward buttons don't work properly.  This happens when the web page it will be going to has one of those URL's which is missing the needed designation (either the search term or the GUID string at the end).  Even though I just followed a direct link trail from a parent topic for an API Object, to a link about one of its Properties or Methods...if the web page for that parent Object was showing an incomplete/incorrect URL, then when I simply click the Back button from its child page, it will either fail, or take me to some completely unrelated or random web page within the online help area.  Very frustrating. 😒  I often will have to use multiple tabs in those situations, and open each child link in a new tab, so that I can quickly go back to the parent link, without having to jump through hoops.
