Is there someway I can import a 3DS file into Inventor?

There are probably other formats you an export in 3ds max too.. But Inventor won't open 3ds files as far as I know.. Haven't tried in a while..

I havent used 3DSmax in a while but I think you can export the file as an .stl or .step and those can be opened in inventor.

Hmm. IMO, importing files out of 3DS offers only average results.

Best formats will be SAT and IGES, STEP isn't supported.

 

I've tried some SAT imports from 3DS, but I've seen problems with creating center work axes for cylindrical faces and similar issues.
