3dm and igs format export to IFC

Hi, did anyone tried to export a 3dm and igs format into IFC format?

As I am having difficulty as the exported file is very huge in file size. I have a model in 2 different format, 3dm which is 63MB and igs format which is 166MB in file size. When I exported using Inventor Pro 2018, the exported IFC file size became 533MB which I am not able to import this IFC into Tekla software.

Is there any way to reduce the file when exported to IFC?

I tried IFC optimizer but it only lessen by 5% and it doesn't help anyway.

Hi,

Have you tried to simplify the data before export to IFC?

Try this:

1. Entering BIM content environment

2. ShrinkWrap and try to removing tiny details

3. Try to export to IFC with the simplified file

I would suggest you to use a plug-in from bim-dex. Its far better than other solutions I have tried for exporting as IFC. you can get a trial by contacting sales@bim-dex.com
