3d random coil

I am trying to model a 3d random coil and not sure how it can be done. Any ideas or example on this would be really helpful.

3D Sketch Spline and Sweep.

The spline will take a lot of artistic tweaking.

I would start by  creating bounding volume.

Then when creating the 3D spline use as few points as possible - adding points as needed.

I hope you have a 3D Connexion device.
