Hi,
I just finished migrating everything over to the 2017 version. I started playing with the 3D PDF function which I was very excited for and I see others are already experiencing problems so I bet my problems wont get resolved either but its worth a post!
Basically my problem is that I need my LOD's included in the pdf but this does not look possible. When i start the export, another window opens up of my assembly but with everything set to the Master design view. This is basically useless to me because I have many iLogic rules and parts are supposed to be suppressed to remain accurate.
Also, up until this point in my limited Inventor experience, I have only used view reps and LODs to create single component drawings from a top level assembly, so i dont really know why else I would want to include all of these other view reps in the 3d pdf when they are all set to "master". They all look the same.
Any feedback is appreciated!
Thanks
Sandro
Are you using View Reps and LODs to create assembly variations?
iAssemblies are the as-designed tool for that workflow. I'm not sure how well they play with iLogic though. You might have better luck with your 3d pdfs using iAssembly members.
I wonder if the issue is related to saving position reps. See http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideastation/assembly-positional-representations-saving-in-act...
Why are you using view reps and LODs to place views of single parts in a drawing? Why not just place a view of the part file?

Hi Sandro, thanks for posting.
As you have discovered, LODs are not supported as part of 3D PDF publish. Please try this solution: right click on your LOD in the browser and choose "Copy to view rep." This creates a coresponding design view rep. Then you can use these new design view reps to control your published output.
The reason design views are leveraged as part of 3D PDF publishing is that they control much more than componet visabilitly. Design views also store sectioning, camera position and later they will control 3D annotation visability. LODs, however, only control componet suppression status. LODs were designed and implemented as a tool for memory management and not necessarliy for controling componet visability.
Hope that helps. Please report back your thoughts and findings.
