3D dimensioning

Hello,
I’m having trouble with 3D dimensions. I want to change the size of the arrows. Unfortunately, in the “Style Editor” I can only change the lighting and text. All the other options are available in a sketch.
I’ve changed the settings for 3D model dimensions in a sketch, but the size of the arrows hasn’t changed. I want to customise everything myself for each IAM file so that I have the flexibility.
Have you managed to sort this out?

Hi!

It's not possible to edit MBD dimension definitions like we can do in 2D drawing dimensions.

Usually the system is set to manage the dimensions size automatically.

If you're not happy with the automatic size, you can use an workaround by scaling the MBD annotations:

You can set several scaling values in different representation views and select that representation to change the scaling for each case.

You can use the default views representations (isometric, top, front, etc) but probably the most correct is to create your own views representations with different MDB notation scales and call them like "MDB Scale 1:1", "MDB Scale 1:2", etc.

Then save that file "as template" to have those options available in future new files.

Check the video, you will understand what i mean easily.

Hi!

You don't have 3DA dimensions in idw or dwg.
In 2D Documents, You can retrieve the dimensions from the 3D model (part or assembly) to the 2D document, and basically, the 3DA dimensions will be converted automatically to a "normal" dimension, which will all follow the document active stile.

In 3D models (part or assembly), You can use the scale method suggested in the previous post to change the MBD annotations.

Changing the 2D templates dimension styles don't change anything in the 3D models MBD annotations.
