2021 update download

sellis

I need to update inventor 2021 to a minimum of 2021.1 but would prefer 2021.5.2. The updates do not appear to be available for download. I downloaded Inventor 2021 through Autodesk Assistant but it was build 183

I am locked into Vault 2021 currently so can not upgrade Inventor to a newer version.

Hoping someone has a download link.

Thanks

Hi!

Autodesk links by request are temporary, so probably nobody has a working link to give you.

Go to Autodesk website, go to support. and start a chat with an operator.

Have the software the version and the serial number ready to give them.

I am working with a client who is using Inventor 2021 and doesn't wish to upgrade at the moment. So, I searched though these forums and found out how to get Inventor 2021 Trail, which usually Build 183 or RTM or whatever is called basically Inventor 2021.0.

I cant open drawings without crashing, these drawings were created by me 4 years ago using Inventor 2021 when I worked for this client on their own PC. After wasting 10 hours, I came to conclusion that their Inventor 2021 was updated to the latest build Inventor 2021.5.2, and because I'm opening it on Inventor 2021.0.1, it was causing the crashes. I cant find any updates anywhere.

So, I reached out at-least 6 times using the chat feature. That was waste of time. I was emailed by support that they will not help me because I am on Trail Version and that support is only provided to "PAID COMMERICAL USERS". So, I bought a monthly license and logged into Inventor 2021 to activate it. And now its activated, but still on 2021.0.1. I have tried the "Help menu" and Autodesk App" , I do not see any updates. Now I have wasted good 2 days and connect support again.  And what do I get repeat of earlier experience, even after getting paid license.

So, now I'm 550$NZ out of Pocket, with non-existent support. I did get links to Inventor 2021.5.2, but it wont install, because I need to install all updates Incrementally from 2021.0, 2021.1, all the way to 2021.5.2.  Then support sent me link to download inventor again, I downloaded and re-installed, but its still build 183.

Hi

This software is no longer available by default. Autodesk provides installers for three previous versions.

However, you can go into your account and talk to Autodesk Assistant (the bubble in the lower right corner). You can try to describe your situation and try to get an installer for the version that is no longer available.

Hi!

Talk with other operator.
As in other areas, there's operators with some more experience that others.

Took me a bit to find someone that knew what was up. Eventually I was sent links to 18 individual updates that need to be install in correct order.

You do not need to install 18 individual updates!!  You need to install 2021.5, and 2021.5.2.  The major (single dot) updates contained all of the previous major updates, and the minor (double dot) updates contained the previous minor updates.  I believe with the last few releases (2024, 2025 maybe 2023?), all updates contain all the previous updates, so only one is needed.

Hi, I tired it, support doesn't know what to do. I have decided to not take the job, which is a shame, because i had been un-employed for 6 months.

If anyone in future is reading this, just don't waste your time.

Hey, thanks, I just gave up after spending 2 days on support. It's a shame, because I had to let go of this job and I had been un-employed for 6 months. But it is what it is, I'll just avoid jobs that use AutoDesk Inventor in future.

Hi Manny, I'm sorry you were not able to get Inventor working for your needs.

As mentioned in the other thread, single dot updates are accumulative so you shouldn't have to install all 18 updates.

Also, all versions within a year are compatible with each other so the crash is probably related to something very specific in the drawing caused by a bug and not just by being saved in a different version of Inventor. So creating a file in 2021.5 can 100% be opened with 2021.0.

We officially support the current version and 3 older versions (this is Autodesk wide not just Inventor,) 2021 has been out of support for a long time now.

I'm sad to hear that this means you no longer want to use Inventor, but this support issue is one you will also find with our competitors who in some cases only support 2 versions back.
I hope you are able to enjoy using our more up-to-date software in the future.

Have you resolved this?

How and where did you obtain those updates, as Autodesk has already removed all the old content?

I'm interested in knowing more and getting those, too, if possible.

Thanks

Sometimes you can get them through the chat function on manage.autodesk.com but otherwise you are out of luck as James_Willo says above

I found someone through the chat function that sent me a link to "Inventor_2021.5.0_Update" , "Inventor_2021.5.1_Update" and "Inventor_2021.5.2_Update".

It took awhile to find someone that understood what was needed.

You don't need the .5.1 update because it's included in the .5.2 update.  Glad you found someone to help!
