Hi Walter,

Did you change the BOM View properties? Right-click on Structured tab in BOM dialog -> View Properties -> select All Levels. Does it work for you?

Good morning Johnson,

after sleeping some hours, I'm near a solution.

The problem seems to be caused by sub-assys like weldments being set as inseparable. This is good for having a clean overview with some sub-levels, but same parts in several sub-assys can't be added to a total number. The option mentioned by you is grayed out.

For manufacturing purposes I'm trying to get the summed up quantity for each different part in the main assembly. I won't disturb the existing structure, but I think, I can make a copy of the main assy, and set all existing inseparable occurences back to normal. Exporting that resulting BOM should do it.

Do you have another proposal?

Shortly later: Seems to be a problem, because sub-assys come to normal everywhere. I need to P&G into a new project. Undesirable, and lots of work.

Perhaps I'm missing the final step, Johnson.

I've tried your proposal, and I can see all sub-levels in the screenshot. But I'm having two identical motor-gear combinations in this assy. I don't want to see them listed at different rows of my Excel export, but I need them and all other identical parts summed up into a general BOM for this main assy.

Hi Walter,

I think it is probably the way it works. When you use Structured BOM view, the components are all listed based on the tree structure. Same Part Number merging only applies to the parts within the same subasssembly. Or, Part-Only view.

But I can't access these Export options, Johnson. They are grayed out.

I'll make a new attempt with another main assembly. This main IAM is too crowded for placing all parts in it, therefore I need sub-assemblies.

But for manufacturing and purchasing purposes , all different parts in the main IAM shall be summed up to needed amounts for each occurrence.

Have you looked to see if your files are "Read-Only".

This is an issue if you are using vault.

I've found a solution for my special needs, already some time ago. I'm exporting two BOMs.

1. Parts Only BOM with summed up parts

2. Structured BOM with View Properties set to All Levels. This way Sub-Assys and welded parts are visible, too.
