In the spur gear assistant, when I look at the results output, it shows me the value for the addendum, but it is always 1.000ul. How do I get this to show me the actual value for the addendum, clearance, root fillet...etc.
All these values are shown in pink text. Sure the color represents something, I'm just not sure what.
The highlighted (pink) text are inputs to the spur gear component generator.
If you are not confident about a variable or a value listed in the generator, you may consider using the export tooth shape feature to do a manual measurement. Right click on the spur gear in browser and choose export tooth shape.
Once you have a 2D drawing and a satisfactory measurement, you can compare the values listed in the generator.
Thanks,
Hi Karthur1
Indeed, Addendum ,clearance and root fillet are all changeable when you expand the spur gear design dialog, see below snapshot .
When I expand the << to get to the unit tooth sizes. I guess I can input .5 for the addendum and it will shorten the addendum to 1/2 its nominal value.
For the particular tooth that I am working with, I know the addendum should be 1/DP or 1/3.5=.2857in. Where is this value shown in the report or on the "Preview" window? I see Ac (chordal addendum), but that is not the same thing.
Hi Kathur1
Yes you're right, the a* is not the Addendum and Chordal addendum is not the same to Addendum you need. I thought a* is a coefficient of a (Addendum), so you can specific the a*=1.00 in your circumstance.
I tried to export tooth shape, and checked the value, it's just the value you want.(1/3.5=0.287)
Jingyi,
Why not write this value in the report, rather than the addendum coefficient? (Maybe put both of them in there).
That was my original question, "How do I get this to show me the actual value for the addendum, clearance, root fillet?"
I know how to calculate it. It would just be nice if it was there in the report as a double check.
Thanks
