Update Excel spreadsheet with custom iProperty

I don't know a whole lot about programming other than I can follow and edit existing code, but not write it from scratch. I am assuming I would need to use Visual Basic code to do what I am about to explain. Anything to help me along the way would be greatly appreciated, or please tell me if it cannot be done so that I am not chasing a pipe dream.

I would like to have a single excel file with multiple part/assembly names listed in an organized manner along with a custom data field to be changed when I save those part or assembly files in Inventor.

The flow diagram would be as such: Create custom iProperty within the IPT or IAM. Fill iProperty data in Inventor. Click save. This triggers a rule to export the data from a specific iProperty(ies) and update a specific cell(s) within my spreadsheet.
