You don't have to use the "structural member reference" as an iPart.
It's better to use "model states", or simply use the Inventor parametric capabilities to change the dimensions.
- iPart will create a new file for each iPart family member, and that's why it will not work for a reference.
So... if you have 3 configurations, you will have the master iPart File, more 3 files representing each configuration. (4 files total).
- "Model states" is kind of an iPart, but all the different members (configurations) are always inside in the same master file.
Note: Model states are available in Iventor 23 and 24 only.
If you don't have those versions, just use the parametric capabilities and create a nice form with logic to change the structure dimensions.
