Wrong disk Installation & disk space

Anonymous
Not applicable

So I've recently have had great disk space issues on my C drive and I cannot stop it from filling up. So I chose to uninstall 3ds max

to reinstall it on the E drive. I did prompt the installer and it kept asking for more disk space on the C drive, I looked it up and it was because

of temp files etc... (which I removed after installation)

now I installed it and made 100% sure I installed it on the E disk, it fills up my C disk with about almost 11 gigs ?!?

along with my other file folder on E....

I see that somehow there's now an autodesk folder in programfiles on 8 gigs, while not even explaining why there are even more 3-4 gigs amiss.

Like what the heck is going on?

On top of it all, I'm having Mentalral DLL's missing when I open 3ds max files using mentalray textures

and it has no mentalray renderer (have had mentalray.dlz

issues in the past though fixed it). Might've been because I just copy pasted the new Autodesk folder away from the C disk?

Either way, I hope I can get some help on this before my frustration gets the best of me.

Big mistake. put it back, and go upgrade your C: drive, you spent more time trying to work around it than replacing it IMHO.

As a general rule, massive software choices from Autodesk require quite a portion of the OS primary drive to also be occupied. No way around it.

Good luck.

Haha well, i could see that answer a mile a way, unfortunate not really what i wanted to hear though you understand.

No, because I can't afford a new SSD before next month unless I buy a cheap one that I'd probably upgrade in a short while.

and if i did replace the max files, id probably have about 1gb max free space and that is not workable. So thats

why i'm trying to ''work-around'' it rather than upgrade it.

3dsmax still working fine, just not with mentalray.
