Hi,
I was installing Autodesk Maya. In the middle of the installation, an error came up "Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Components\E968ED8BEF966D7418BF06E3D381CE1E\D14ED748A5C125A4DA4DEA077875DEDB Verify that you have sufficient access to the key or contact your support personnel"
I navigated to that particular key in the registry editor but when I tried to open it it showed "You do not have permission to view the current permissions settings for D14ED748A5C125A4DA4DEA077875DEDB, but you can make permission changes."
I tried to add my Administrator account and give Full Control to it, but it didn't work. When I tried to Apply the changes, it gave an error "Unable to save permission changes on D14ED748A5C125A4DA4DEA077875DEDB. Access is denied."
I then went into the Advanced settings and tried to change the owner, but I got the same error. I can add permission entries but it is not getting applied.
The last thing I tried was to take a backup of the registry and delete the key. Even that didn't work as I got the same Access denied error.
This issue persists even while trying to uninstall any other Autodesk product like Mudbox.
Can anyone please help me with this? How can I install the software if it is not letting me access the key?
Regards

this is more of a Windows issue not an Autodesk one
you need to check with your IT dept & have them check your windows permissions
Update:
As mentioned in the above comment, it was an issue with the registry editor in Windows and not related to any Autodesk product.
I have been able to successfully fix the issue myself. I am hereby giving the procedure I followed if it helps anybody who is facing the same issue.
1. Identify the key name that is getting Access Denied issue.
2. Go to the properties of the Setup file of the product you want to install. Then change the permissions to your active account. It is the one with which you are logging in, not only the Administrator account. Once that's settled, it will mean whenever you run the Setup it will not only run as Administrator but your logged in account will have the ownership and all the relevant permissions.
3. Go to the Components key in your Registry Editor. It will be the parent of the particular key which was facing issue. In the permissions tab, add ownership of your logged account, the same which you used while giving permissions for the Setup executable file. Give it full control and also make sure it's assigned to the subkeys as well.
4. Check that malfunctioning key once more. It should be open and you will be able to check the permissions as well.
5. Try reinstalling the product now.
