Hello again @stephanie.egger @matthew.d
I think this will be the last update to this post...Got good news. After writing yesterday to Education Community as using the form @matthew.d provided,Education Commity replied today to the request and resolved the issue with Revit 2016 which now shows on my Account Management.
I ran Energy Analysis on a sample model using Revit 2016 to verify and it now works perfectly now. Seems the above resolved or whatever they did at EC...having the Revit 2016 License showing in my account resolved the Energy Analysis issue. (PS: Now I can even see the Revit 2016 updates and service packs which were not there before)

I am not sure if this will be a fix for all Educational accounts or each will have to go through the same process...just wrote back to EC inquiring. In the meantime I will redirect colleages and students to this post.
Again thanks for your support and hats off for Education Community; I really wasn't expecting their reply overnight with the workload which they have.
My Account this morning - Hurray! Revit 2016 is now showing
