Revit 2023.1 Instalation Error

Hi,

i'm trying to upgrade revit to 2023.1 but always get error 101, when updating from desktop app.

If i try to install from installer (Revit 2023_1.exe) it requests RVT.msi. I've downloaded the original installer from produts management but get incompatible file and error 1603.

I wonder - what is Autodesk Identity Manager? Did a Google search, but it doesn't list much information.

See my other posted about this @Simon_Weel

where they are saying to delete it for the missing RVT.MSI issue and Error 101?

So after going into my portal and downloading the original version of Revit 2023 to a folder on my computer I was able to locate the RVT.msi file in one of the folders. Restarted the Revit Update and when it gave me the same error message that it could not find the RVT.msi file I selected the option of "Browse" and located in the RVT.msi file in the folder I recently downloaded. The update was applied and there appears to be NO issues so far. A couple of things I want to mention:

It was noted that "The prompt for the original RVT.msi occurs when there is one, or more, Revit installation files have been modified by a third party." We have No 3rd party software running on ANY of our office computers. NONE! Unless you consider applications like Bluebeam to be able to modify the RVT.msi file, nothing touched that file other than Autodesk Updates and Hotfixes.

I still insist that Autodesk needs to do a better job of pushing out the updates if it involves the user doing more than just clicking on "UPDATE" from the Desktop Manager. There should be an explanation of sorts and as someone else noted, we should have to stumble on the solution by having to search on Google for the problem.

I has abble to install the update but i don't have the generative design buttons and dynamo player is greyed out, so the issues isn't totally resolved. I has waiting for some solution.

None of the solutions in this thread worked for me.

Ultimately, I did a complete removal of Revit 2023. A clean reinstall, and then installed the update downloaded from my Autodesk account.

Hope this helps....

Autodesk just released update 1.1 for Revit 2023. "This update fixed an issue with Desktop Connector that would display the 'Autodesk Desktop Connector update required' dialog when adding new or accessing existing Desktop Connector links.". Doubt this will solve the problem, though.....

Saw the same thing when using my 'alternative' method of installing the update. The Windows Eventlog lists "Product: Autodesk Revit Content Core-RVT 2023 -- Error 1606. Could not access network location Revit 2023\.". When I run the installer for the core content and switch on verbose logging, it checks for a bunch of paths and if it can't find them, it adds them. Except for the 'install directory':

AppSearch: Property: RVT_S_CONTENTPATH, Signature: RS_RVT_S_CONTENTPATH
MSI (c) (C0:B8) [11:36:22:572]: Note: 1: 2262 2: Signature 3: -2147287038
MSI (c) (C0:B8) [11:36:22:572]: PROPERTY CHANGE: Adding RVT_S_CONTENTPATH property. Its value is 'C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2023\'.
AppSearch: Property: RVT_S_SAMPLES, Signature: RS_RVT_S_SAMPLES
MSI (c) (C0:B8) [11:36:22:572]: Note: 1: 2262 2: Signature 3: -2147287038
MSI (c) (C0:B8) [11:36:22:572]: PROPERTY CHANGE: Adding RVT_S_SAMPLES property. Its value is 'C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2023\Samples\'.
AppSearch: Property: RVT_S_FAMILYTEMPLATES, Signature: RS_RVT_S_FAMILYTEMPLATES
MSI (c) (C0:B8) [11:36:22:572]: Note: 1: 2262 2: Signature 3: -2147287038
MSI (c) (C0:B8) [11:36:22:572]: PROPERTY CHANGE: Adding RVT_S_FAMILYTEMPLATES property. Its value is 'C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2023\Family Templates\'.
AppSearch: Property: RVT_S_LOOKUPTABLES, Signature: RS_RVT_S_LOOKUPTABLES
MSI (c) (C0:B8) [11:36:22:572]: Note: 1: 2262 2: Signature 3: -2147287038
MSI (c) (C0:B8) [11:36:22:572]: PROPERTY CHANGE: Adding RVT_S_LOOKUPTABLES property. Its value is 'C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2023\Lookup Tables\'.
AppSearch: Property: REVIT_INSTALL_DIRECTORY, Signature: REVIT_INSTALL_DIRECTORY
MSI (c) (C0:B8) [11:36:22:572]: Note: 1: 2262 2: Signature 3: -2147287038
MSI (c) (C0:B8) [11:36:22:572]: PROPERTY CHANGE: Modifying REVIT_INSTALL_DIRECTORY property. Its current value is 'NO_VALUE'. Its new value: 'Revit 2023\'.

Notice the last line. The path 'Revit 2023\' doesn't exist. Duh.... And so, installing the templates etc. fails. Did some digging with ORCA. Found the registry key with the installation path (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{7346B4A0-2300-0510-0000-705C0D862004}) and noticed the "InstallLocation" to be 'Revit 2023\' instead of 'C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit 2023\'. Modified the registry value and gave the installer another try. Problem solved.

Didn't solve anything... Starts installing, goes to 28% then starts to recede to 0 and gives the 101 error. Still no dynamo player, generative design...

What's going on Autodesk??

Can the 10+GB of installer files be removed after the 2023.1 update runs, or are they required to be stored there on the hard drive to enable future updates? I can leave the "RVT.msi" if required, would prefer to remove everything else.

This really is utter crap from Autodesk. we had the same issue over 12 months ago with the 2022 hotfix. I pay bloody good money for a subscription and update service not a find the file in your system, bugger about with it yourself and hope it works service.... oh yes and then do the same for all of the other pc's you have it installed on. Come on Autodesk SORT THIS OUT

so about an hour or two has gone by and still no further on.

have deleted the Autodesk Identity Manager  as recommended as I had the 101 error... bit scary doing this as lots of warnings saying my Autodesk packages may not work - that sounds fun....

tried the install again...... this time it wants the location of the msi file..

So download download the Revit 2023 full installers as recomended, extract, etc etc.

try again... point it to the location of the newly downloaded msi file... doesn't chuffing like that, rolls back the install and gives me a 1603 error.

Boy of boy is this fun, glad I don't have any work to do...

So two hours later, no bloody further on and possibly buggered up access to my other Autordesk products... what a sh1t update service this is. Who the hell do I bill in Autodesk for my time.

Completely fed up and pissed off (as you may have gathered) You will asking me to get a screwdriver next and pull the bloody computer apart.

As I said I pay for an install service not a spend three hours buggering about with your computer service.

@1161314

Just checking in to see if you're all set.  You should actually be installing 2023.1.1 now to help eliminate this issue.

Let us know

It is now December 17, and the problem still exists because I have just now hit it.   I am on deadline, and this is huge.  After the installation failed, I can no longer able to access Autodesk Docs correctly.  I try to open up the main model and it can't find all my Revit links.  I can't believe that this update is still on there over a month after people were having these issues.  Part of my problem is that I am intensely focused on a complex deadline, the first thing that I am told to do is go search for a registry key.  Please explain how this is done so I don't have to research each step.

Frustration talking...

You said that the file version 23.0.11.19 can be downloaded from our portal.  Where?  Why not have a link to that as well in your paragraph so someone doesn't have to go hunting for it?

After I tried to install the update the Collaboration Tab disappeared. I cannot upload projects to BIM360 or ACC.

Is there a zip file of the family templates that we can direct download from Autodesk? When I try to install the 2023 content it says it's already installed but all I have is the family libraries - no templates.
