Hi,

I have had a look at the installation log and it looks like it terminates unexpectedly, the installation encounters an issue installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x64) but then terminates instead of rolling back the installation.

Normally I would recommend that you uninstall all versions of Visual C++ and try again but if you've already don't this then this isn't the issue.

You could always try and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x64) from the Revit installation files separately and see if it installs OK and if you get an error that might gives us more to go on. The installer for Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x64) can be found here:

C:\Autodesk\Autodesk_Revit_2017_English_Win_64bit_dlm\3rdParty\x64\VCRedist\2005\vcredist_x64.exe

Let us know if this helps,

Hi,

Is this the error you get when install Visual C++ from the autodesk installation directory?

Please can you attach a screenshot of any error messages to your post as well please.

Regards,

but when i ran "C:\Autodesk\Autodesk_Revit_2017_English_Win_64bit_dlm\3rdParty\x64\VCRedist\2005SP1ATL\vcredist_x64.exe"

Looks like the install of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 is the cause of your issues.

You could try and download Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x64) from Microsoft and see if it will install:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=21254

If it still errors when downloaded directly from Microsoft then this is a fault on your computer and not related to your Autodesk software and you may need to contact your IT department.

If Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 installs from Microsoft, please try and install Revit again and see if it now works. If Revit still fails please re-download Revit in case it didnt download correctly the first time.

Hi @Anonymous,

The easiest solution is to edit the setup.ini file which is found in the same location as setup.exe the search the file for "3rdParty\x64\VCRedist\2005\vcredist_x64.exe".

Once you find it within the file, delete the entire line then save it back to its original location. Then run the installation again.
