Your thread title is Problem with Installation, but your description is Question about Activation.
Q1. Is AutoCAD running normally when you start the the application (did you get a successful installation)?

Welcome to the community...
If you installed AutoCAD 2014, you couldn't continue with the install without putting in your serial # and product key. When you launched the application it would've ask to run in a trial mode or for you to activate it.
If you installed AutoCAD 2017 then yes you can install the application without that information. However when you launch the product you would've seen the Lets Get Started dialog with 2 options. Enter serial #/product key or use a network license.
