Odd behaviour from Node.exe

Hi All,

I've noticed some recent significant performance hits on my system, which is surprising considering it's an HP Z240 with an Intel Core i7 6700 and 16GB memory.

So I started looking into this and noticed the following:

2017-06-14 12_02_10-Windows Task Manager.png

Further investigation of the desktop-connect path yields an 11MB log file with ~200,000 lines of logging that started around June 6th along the lines of this:

2017-06-14 12_13_50-server.log - Notepad.png

I've checked my system and ForceEffect isn't installed.

Actually, I may have just cracked it; I installed Inventor 2016 on the date the logging started and it has added the ForceEffect functions to my system.

Was that included in one of the service packs for 2016; it's been a long time since I had to use it so pardon my ignorance.

How do I turn this off, short of deleting the offending folders?

Thanks,

Alex.

Hello @AlexFielder,

Please try to locate the folder in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2016\addin, you can delete the ForceEffects in that folder. Let us know if this resolved the issue.

Thank you for posting. Smiley Happy

Hi @natasha.l,

I removed the ForceEffect files but I notice that node server.js is still writing to the log file:

2017-06-19 09_32_46-C__Users_Public_Documents_Autodesk_.desktop-connect_server.log - Notepad++ [Admi.png

It's doing so less frequently today, but then I've only been logged on around 30 minutes.

Thoughts?
